It takes 45 minutes by bus from Takayama.

Overnight bus runs to Tatamidaira of Mt.Norikuradake through Norikura Skyline from July to September. Tatamidaira is the best spot to watch the sunrise. People meet at the bus stop “Honokidaira” at 3:30am and buy the bus ticket.

The bus runs through the mountain path for 45 minutes. The elevation of Mt. Norikuradake is 2700m, so it is chilly in August and oxygen is thin.

Orange sunlight extends from Nagano Pref. to the sea of clouds. The best spot to watch the sunrise is the summit of Mt.Daikokudake and Mt.Fujimidake in front of Tatamidaira. These mountains are not high, so people can climb with 10 minutes. Before the sun rises, the temperature is below 15 degrees even in August. You should bring warm clothing.
