Onigiri at Kobishiya
Onigiri(rice ball) goes well with Hanami. Our favorite onigiri shop is Kobishiya which is long standing. Their onigiri are good even cold.
Jinya Dango
Midarashi-dango is the skewered rice dumplings which grilled until it turns light brown and becomes savory with soy sauce. This shop is very close to Takayama Jinya and the red Naka-bashi bridge which is beside the cherry tree.
Fresh Strawberry Juice at Hida Oiya
Hida Oiya(Japanese sweets shop) provides hot 100% fresh strawberry juice, which is rich, sweet and sour until early-Apr.
Strawberry Daifuku at Saika Nanakusa
Saika Nanakusa is a branch shop of Tohoen(Japanese sweets home shop of long standing). The strawberry daifuku is made from very soft Gyuhi(glutinous rice flour), “Minomusume” strawberry from Gifu pref. and condensed milk an(paste). You can buy it at these shops between mid-Jan and early-Spr.
Strawberry Parfait at Takayama Green Hotel
Lounge Kinoka with a good view of the Japanese garden provides original parfait with seasonal fruit monthly, and their strawberry parfait is popular among hotel guests and local people.
It takes 10-minute-walk from JR Takayama Station(West Exit).
